Overview
The annual Black-Necked Crane Festival celebrates the arrival of endangered cranes in the Phobjikha Valley's Gangtey Gonpa courtyard. The festival aims to generate awareness of crane conservation and strengthen community efforts — over 300 of the estimated 500 migratory black-necked cranes spend winter months in this alpine wetland valley at roughly 3,000m elevation.
