About the Festival
Prakhar Duchhoed is held at Prakhar Lhakhang, a temple in the Chumey Valley of Bumthang district, about 30 minutes from Chamkhar town. The festival honors Lama Thukse Dawa, a son of the 15th-century Buddhist master Terton Pema Lingpa. The temple's name — meaning 'White Monkey' — comes from local folklore claiming langurs helped build it, continuing construction work at night while humans labored by day.
