Jhomolhari Mountain Festival
A two-day trekking festival at the base of Mount Jomolhari, celebrating the snow leopard and the communities living alongside it.
About the Festival
The Jomolhari Mountain Festival merges trekking with a two-day celebration hosted by local communities at the base of Mount Jomolhari. Themed around the region's natural environment and cultural heritage, it particularly highlights the snow leopard and the unique culture of the communities living alongside these natural wonders.
Cultural Significance
Activities include snow-leopard-themed folk performances by locals, national park staff, and schoolchildren; traditional sports such as khuru (darts), shot put, and horse and yak riding; local food sampling; and handicraft displays — creating what organizers describe as the ultimate Jomolhari Mountain experience.
